The General Services Department oversees the Building Construction, Facility Maintenance and Fleet Maintenance divisions.
Building Construction
The Building Construction Division handles all remodels and new construction for the City.
Facility Maintenance
The Facility Maintenance Division is responsible for repairs and maintenance of all City buildings. It also manages the City’s energy conservation efforts.
Fleet Maintenance
Fleet Maintenance manages, repairs and maintains the City’s fleet of vehicles, including all work equipment. Fleet Maintenance also oversees procurement of heavy equipment, vehicles and small engine, as well as the auction of City property.
Auctions
The City of Round Rock will periodically offer City property for auction through the online auction site Gaston and Sheehan. Many other Texas government agencies use this auction site as well.
About the Director
Corey Amidon is an accomplished facilities and construction professional with more than 25 years of experience in facility management, construction oversight, electrical systems, and public sector operations. Currently serving as the Assistant Director of General Services for the City of Round Rock, a role he has held for the past four years, Corey provides strategic leadership for facility maintenance, capital improvement projects, building operations, and municipal infrastructure initiatives.
Prior to this position, he served as Facility Maintenance Manager and Building Construction Superintendent, overseeing maintenance programs, renovation projects, construction budgets, and contractor management. Before joining the City of Round Rock, Corey spent over two decades with Rosendin Electric, advancing through leadership roles including Site Superintendent, Assistant Project Manager, and BIM Coordinator.
A retired First Sergeant from the Texas Army National Guard with more than 20 years of military service, he brings proven leadership, operational excellence, and a commitment to public service. Corey holds a Facility Management Professional (FMP) certification, a Texas Electrical License, and extensive expertise in construction management, facilities operations, and team development.
