Don Tate: Lots of Drawing! (ages 5+) (preregistration)

The Round Rock Public Library welcomes award-winning author and illustrator Don Tate on Monday, June 13, 2022.

Participants will learn to see basic shapes in everyday objects and draw what they see, rather than what they remember. Take part in fun drawing outside the box activities! 

Learn about Don’s journey from a reluctant reader to a published author and illustrator. Preregister to join the fun in Meeting Room C!

There will be two identical sessions in Meeting Room C. Please register for one event.

Please Note: Online preregistration is required. Online preregistration starts Monday, May 30, 2022, at 9 am. Those who arrive more than five minutes late may forfeit their space(s). If you cannot attend, please cancel your reservation via Eventbrite or call 512.218.3275.

About Don Tate:

Don Tate is an award-winning illustrator of numerous critically acclaimed books for children, including No Small Potatoes: Junios G. Groves and His Kingdom in Kansas, Whoosh! Lonnie Johnsonā€™s Super-Soaking Stream of Inventions,  Hopeā€™s Gift, Swish! The Slam-Dunking, Alley-Ooping, High-Flying Harlem Globetrotters, and many others.

He is also an award-winning author. Some of his books for children include: Strong As Sandow: How Eugen Sandow Became The Strongest Man on Earth; Poet: The Remarkable Story of George Moses HortonIt Jesā€™ Happened: When Bill Traylor Started To Draw, and William Still and His Freedom Stories: Father of the Underground Railroad.

Don is a founding host of The Brown Bookshelf ā€“a blog dedicated to books for African American young readers; and a member of the #WeNeedDiverseBooks campaign, created to address the lack of diverse, non-majority narratives in childrenā€™s literature. He lives in Austin, Texas, with his family.
