Celebrating National Animal Care and Control Appreciation Week

In honor of National Animal Care and Control Appreciation Week, the Round Rock Police Department will be profiling some of its Animal Control Officers. Stay tuned for more profiles.

Courtney is one of our newest Animal Control Officers. Her favorite animals (other than her dog and cat) are any type of sea life – from otters to octopus. Her least favorite critters are tarantulas. As for what drew her to this job, “I have loved animals since I was a kid and always in my heart knew I wanted a career that involved them, especially helping them, in some way.”

Danielle has been an Animal Control Officer since 2017. Her strangest animal encounter as an ACO has been a herd of loose bison. She has two dogs, two cats, and a 15-year-old quarter horse named Smoke. She grew up showing animals in the 4-H Club. She combined her love of animals with her interest in criminal justice when she joined Round Rock Animal Control.

Heather joined Round Rock Animal Control in October 2020. She has two dogs and a cat named Figgy Iggy. Her least favorite animal is a rattlesnake. Her strangest animal encounter was an opossum that had made a home in a child’s doll house. Since she was a kid, she has wanted to help animals in need. “They have always brought me so much joy, and I’m happy to be a part of a job that gives me that opportunity.”
