City offers Christmas tree recycling, free tree seedlings

The City of Round Rock encourages residents to recycle Christmas trees from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 30, and Saturday, Jan. 6, at the Round Rock Brush Recycling Center, 310 Deepwood Drive. Volunteers will be available to help unload trees and a small number of seedlings will be provided to residents who recycle trees on these dates.

Residents may also bring trees for recycling to the Round Rock Brush Recycling Center during any regular operating day. Tree recycling is offered to local businesses for a small fee of $15 per truckload.

All decorations, nails, wires, tree stands and lights must be removed before trees are brought to the recycling center. Trees will be shredded into a fine, usable mulch, which will then be made available to Round Rock residents free of charge. The mulch can also be purchased by contractors and non-residents for $5 per cubic yard. The center is open Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
