Council approves Lake Creek Trail construction

Construction of Lake Creek Trail will begin later this year, following unanimous approval of a $2.46 million contract by Round Rock City Council Members at their July 27 meeting.

The completed trail will include a 10-foot-wide path running from Round Rock West Park to Centennial Plaza, pedestrian underpass at IH-35, a bridge over Lake Creek and other amenities along the trail.

The project, which will provide a critical link for safe passage between Round Rock’s west side and Downtown, was awarded to Muniz Concrete & Contracting, Inc. for construction.

In the City’s most recent community survey, 83 percent of residents responded that they were supportive of investments in the trail system. Today, Round Rock has over 20 miles of built hike and bike trails, with more to come, in an effort to provide better connectivity between trail segments.

Round Rock recently restarted construction of Heritage Trail West, an approximately 1-mile section of trail from just west of Chisholm Trail Road to Mays Street.
