Councilmember Matt Baker begins three-year term

Frank Leffingwell posed with family after his final meeting as a councilmember.

City Council and the Round Rock community bid farewell to former councilmember Frank Leffingwell and welcomed Matt Baker as the new elected representative for Place 3 at Thursday’s regularly scheduled Council meeting.

Local residents, friends, family and City staff gathered to celebrate the end of Leffingwell’s tenure and to welcome Baker as he was sworn in to his three-year term.

Leffingwell reflected on the teamwork he enjoyed with his fellow councilmembers, City staff and loved ones who made it possible for him to serve his community.

“Elected leaders committed to working together are continuing to make Round Rock a great place to live, work and raise a family,” the outgoing councilman said. “The people of Round Rock deserve only the very best.”

Matt Baker received the Oath of Office with his wife, Natasha, by his side.

After being sworn in by Justice Melissa Goodwin of the Texas Third Court of Appeals, Baker spoke about his desire to serve the residents of Round Rock. He also acknowledged the citizens who took time to participate in the political process.

Prior to his election as councilmember, Baker served as the vice chair of the Planning and Zoning Commission. He and his wife Natasha own a local real estate brokerage. Baker also brings to the table more than 20 years of experience as a professional engineer for the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ).

Place 5 Councilmember Writ Baese was re-elected to his seat earlier this month and will be sworn in at the next City Council meeting scheduled for June 14.
