Police investigating cause of Round Rock home fire

Round Rock Police are investigating the cause of a house fire that occurred Saturday night in the South Creek neighborhood.

The Round Rock Fire Department responded to a structure fire in a single story duplex at 7:36 p.m. Saturday, May 7. Firefighters arrived at 2112 Redwing Way to find fire coming out of a front and side window. The fire was contained within 16 minutes after the arrival of the first unit and extinguished within 36 minutes.

There were two families at home when the fire started. Everyone was able to get out of the structure before firefighters arrived. One resident was transported to St. David’s Round Rock Medical Center for non-life threating injuries.

After an investigation was completed, the fire was found to be intentionally set.

Red Cross was called to assist one of the families with shelter for the night.  

A damage estimate is still being researched at this time.
