Police partner with local agencies to host Texas Open Carry law public meeting on Dec. 21

With the new Texas Open Carry law going into effect Jan. 1, Round Rock Police have partnered with the Georgetown Police Department and the Williamson County Attorney’s Office to host an informational public meeting at 7 p.m.Monday, Dec. 21, at Round Rock City Hall, 221 E. Main St.

A panel of experts will be will be on hand to answer citizen questions about the new law in the City Council Chambers. RRPD Training Commander Jim Stuart will be joined by Williamson County Attorney Dee Hobbs and Assistant Chief Cory Tchida of the Georgetown Police Department.

The new Texas Open Carry law will allow licensed gun owners to openly carry a holstered gun in most public places, except where prohibited.

The meeting will be live-streamed online at roundrocktexas.gov/tv. The event will also be broadcast on Time Warner Cable Channel 10 in Round Rock and ATT U-verse Channel 99.
