Round Rock Police are reminding parents to talk to their children about accepting rides from strangers, following an incident that occurred before spring break
A 13-year-old student reported being followed by a male who was driving a dirty, two-door black pickup truck. The pickup was probably two to three years old, similar to a Ford F-150 or Chevrolet Silverado.
The driver was described as a chunky white male with short hair, a grey beard and bad teeth. This incident happened on Redbud Lane approaching Forest Creek Drive in east Round Rock. The student got into the truck and was given a ride to the street of her residence. No crime was committed.
A few days later, the Austin Police Department dealt with a similar incident where a white male driving a newer model, single-cab, black pickup stopped and asked a 15-year-old female walking home from school, if she wanted a ride. This driver was described as being in his late 30s to 40s, gray hair and a gray goatee.
The Round Rock Police encourages parents and guardians to talk to their children and inform them to never talk to or accept rides from strangers.
