Round Rock Police accepting applications for Citizens Police Academy

The Round Rock Police Department is accepting applications for the Citizens Police Academy, a free 14-week educational opportunity that gives participants a behind the scenes look at the many functions of the police department.

The Citizens Police Academy is a hands-on course where participants gain an insider perspective on the realities of life as a police officer through participation in activities such as emergency vehicle driver exercises, investigation skills, SWAT and K-9 demonstrations and more.

Classes will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesdays beginning Feb. 7 at the Round Rock Public Safety Training Center, 2801 N. Mays St. Space is limited.

To be eligible for CPA, you must be a citizen of Round Rock. Graduates are eligible for additional training and volunteer opportunities such as Citizens on Patrol, as well as membership in the Citizens Police Academy Alumni Association (CPAAA).
