Police arrest home invasion suspects

Round Rock Police arrested two men in Hutto following a home invasion robbery earlier in the day in Round Rock.

At 1:55 p.m Wednesday, July 22, police responded to a robbery in progress at the 3900 block of Whitey Ford Way. Two Hispanic males entered a residence, pointed a gun at a 20-year-old male victim, and restrained him with duct tape. The suspects took numerous items and fled the scene in a maroon passenger vehicle.

The victim provided officers with information about the suspects’ vehicle and was able to identify one of the suspects by name. The vehicle was located at a residence in Hutto. Due to the high risk circumstances, the Police SWAT team was dispatched to the location.

A stolen vehicle and property taken from the robbery in Round Rock were recovered.

Gilbert Wayne Flores, 29, was taken into custody and charged with aggravated robbery, unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon, and a parole violation. Joe Michael Zapata, 20, was charged with aggravated robbery. Both suspects are currently being held in the Williamson County Jail.

This investigation is ongoing and additional charges may be pending.
