Street Cred Update: University Boulevard project reaches completion

Round Rock drivers are celebrating the completion of long-awaited improvements to University Boulevard between Interstate 35 and Sunrise Boulevard.

The $18 million project, which widened the road to six lanes, is part of the City’s long-range Transportation Master Plan and the Driving Progress Program, which dedicated $240 million to major road projects over the next five years.

The improvements to University Boulevard included dual turn lanes at the intersections of Oakmont and University Oaks to help to alleviate traffic congestion and reduce accidents at these busy intersections.

The completion of the University Boulevard project is a testament to the City’s ongoing commitment to investing in infrastructure for Round Rock as it continues to grow.

Construction continues on University Boulevard between A.W. Grimes Boulevard and State Highway 130. The roadway is being reconstructed from two lanes to four lanes with a raised median, which will provide even more capacity for drivers in the area. The project is expected to be completed later this summer.
