Texas, Texas Tech baseball teams to square off in Round Rock exhibition game

In June, more than 7,400 fans packed into Disch-Falk Field in Austin to watch The University of Texas Longhorns take on the University of Texas at San Antonio in the NCAA Austin Regional baseball title game.

Needless to say: Tickets were a difficult get.

In a rare football season showcase, UT Baseball will travel up I-35 to Round Rock on Saturday, Sept. 27 to face Texas Tech at Dell Diamond. Tickets should be easier to find, but the reigning SEC champion Longhorns are always a big draw in the Austin area.

The 12-inning exhibition game, which begins at 1 p.m. during a bye week for the football Longhorns and Red Raiders, will be the first of two fall games for UT this year. The other will be at Disch-Falk against Lamar on Oct. 3.

In head coach Jim Schlossnagle’s first season at UT, the team finished with its best record in 15 years, going 44-14. The team returns 16 lettermen.

The Red Raiders finished 2025 with a 20-33 record in the Big 12. Head coach Tim Tadlock, who has appeared in the College World Series four times while winning the Big 12 three times, is in his 14th season with Texas Tech.
