As Northeast Round Rock continues to experience growth, the City of Round Rock is improving County Road 112 to meet current and future transportation needs as part of the City’s long-term planning efforts.
The City of Round Rock is managing the reconstruction of County Road 112 through two coordinated projects: County Road 112 East, which spans from County Road 117 to County Road 110, and County Road 112 West, from A.W. Grimes Boulevard to County Road 117. These projects will upgrade the existing two-lane county road into a six-lane divided roadway with a center median. The improvements also include the addition of pedestrian facilities, curb and gutter and an updated storm drainage system.
Construction officially began in early 2025, beginning with installation of utilities. Both segments are anticipated to be completed by fall 2026.
The total budget for the County Road 112 improvements is $54.5 million. Funding was provided through a combination of developer contributions via roadway impact fees, the City’s Type B sales tax, City-issued Certificates of Obligation bonds, and contributions from Williamson County. Both projects were awarded to Dan Williams Company for construction.
The purpose of this project is to provide increased east-west roadway capacity and improved access to residential and commercial developments in the city’s planning pipeline. These improvements are also identified in the City’s Transportation Master Plan as critical to supporting the overall mobility network. Once completed, CR 112 will better serve the growing needs of Northeast Round Rock by improving traffic flow and enhancing pedestrian infrastructure.
