Chisholm Trail South Improvements
The City of Round Rock is planning for upgrades to Chisholm Trail Road between Sam Bass Road and RM 620. This project will include pavement reconstruction, sidewalk upgrades, and improvements to utility and drainage infrastructure.
Construction for the Chisholm Trail South Improvements project began in July 2025 and is anticipated to last through summer 2026. During construction, detours will be put in place.
Details of Detour during Construction
Project update: August 2026
The Contractor switched northbound traffic to the west side of the roadway (August 10th) so the east side can now be built. Many of the utility relocations were on the west side of the road so we hope we do not encounter any unknown utilities on the east side so the contractor can finish up the project by late Fall.
Project update: May 2026
Work on the project continues to move forward. Throughout construction, several older undocumented utilities have been encountered that required coordination, relocation, and in some cases replacement or upgrades with newer materials. These unforeseen utility conflicts have impacted the Contractor’s schedule.
With much of the underground utility work now complete, the project is transitioning into the next major phase of construction. Sidewalk and pavement construction activities are expected to advance significantly in the coming months.
At this time, project completion remains anticipated for mid-Fall 2026.
