Residents, businesses with damage from ice storm encouraged to fill out state form

The City of Round Rock’s Emergency Management Division is encouraging residents to report damage to their homes or businesses from last week’s ice storm by using the Texas Department of Emergency Management’s Individual State of Texas Assessment Tool (iSTAT).

The information provided in the survey helps emergency management officials gain an understanding of damages that have occurred and helps officials determine if the damages meet federal requirements for various forms of disaster assistance, as well as identify any resource needs. You can assist the damage assessment process by uploading photos and including important details about any losses. Fill out the form by visiting damage.tdem.texas.gov and selecting “Ice Storm/Winter Weather January 29 – Ongoing.”

The form also allows residents to give the Texas Department of Emergency Management permission for your contact information to be shared with relief organizations participating in recovery efforts and performing clean up in your area. This is not a guarantee for assistance, and cleanup assistance will not be performed without prior acknowledgement from the property owner.

Residents and businesses with cosmetic damage, such as downed trees or damaged fences, should select “Affected” for level of damage to their main building when prompted. Other options are Minor, Major and Destroyed, with associated descriptions to help homeowners and businesses choose the best answer.
