As Round Rock continues to grow, the community is also investing in the small but essential species that support its environment—bees, butterflies and other pollinators.
Residents have several opportunities this April to learn how to better support pollinators in Round Rock:
- Friday, April 10 at 1:30 p.m. – Monarch butterfly presentation
Round Rock Public Library, 200 E. Liberty
- Friday, April 17 at 1:30 p.m. – Bees and garden-friendly insects presentation
Round Rock Public Library, 200 E. Liberty
- Saturday, April 18 from 9 a.m. to noon – Earth Day celebration
Yonders Point, Old Settlers Park, 3300 E. Palm Valley Blvd.
Residents can pick up free wildflower seed packets at the above events and at the Round Rock Convention and Visitors Bureau, 216 E. Main St., throughout the year. The City has plans to distribute 10,000 seed packets in 2026, making it easy for residents to create pollinator-friendly spaces at home.
Round Rock became a Bee City USA affiliate in 2022, committing to support bees, butterflies and other pollinators through conservation, education and habitat creation. Since then, the City has hosted seed giveaways, built pollinator habitats and partnered with local organizations to expand awareness.
In addition to City-led efforts, the Round Rock Public Library has supported pollinator education through grants, offering scavenger hunts, children’s programs and curated reading materials focused on healthy ecosystems.
“We do not discriminate with pollinators: we love our butterflies just as much as our bees,” said Bee City USA program coordinator Tara Ambrose. “They are both great pollinators – as are our local bats!”
By attending events, planting wildflowers and learning more about pollinators, residents can play a direct role in supporting Round Rock’s growing pollinator population.
