Arson determined to be cause of house fire

Round Rock public safety officials are investigating a suspicious fire that occurred Monday, May 6, 2019, at 1601 White Oak Loop.

The Fire Department was dispatched at 5:13 a.m. to a report of a residential structure fire at 1601 White Oak Loop. The first Fire Department unit arrived at 5:18 am and reported a working fire with fire visible on two separate and opposite areas of the home. One resident was home at the time of the fire and was able to get out without injury.

The fire investigation revealed the fire started on the exterior of the house and progressed into the home. The cause of the fire is determined to be arson, and damage is estimated at $80,000. 

Near the scene, Round Rock police arrested Patrick Paul Dupre, 37, for public intoxication. He is a person of interest, and the investigation is continuing.
