Two City of Round Rock lifeguard teams competed in the annual Texas Lifeguard Championship, hosted by the Texas Public Pool Council on Aug. 3 in College Station. The teams earned their spot at the state competition after sweeping first and second place at the Central Texas Regional Lifeguard Competition on July 22 in Temple.

At the state championship, the Round Rock Lifeguards captured first place overall, securing the City’s fourth consecutive Texas Lifeguard Championship. The historic victory extends an unprecedented run for the City’s lifeguard program, which has now claimed state titles in 2023, 2024, 2025 and 2026.

During the competition, teams are evaluated on emergency recognition, response time, technical skills, teamwork, communication and their ability to perform under pressure. Lifeguards respond to complex scenarios and simulated rescue situations designed to test their preparation and decision-making.

The championship reflects the City’s commitment to rigorous training and ongoing skill development. Round Rock lifeguards complete extensive preseason training and participate in regular in-service evaluations throughout the summer City of Round Rock lifeguards undergo extensive training and regular skill evaluations to ensure they are prepared to respond to emergencies at City facilities.
