Council approves contract for new Kenney Fort extension project

Round Rock City Council approved a contract at its Sept. 22 meeting that will further extend Kenney Fort Boulevard from Joe DiMaggio Boulevard to Old Settlers Boulevard.

The $18.6 million contract with Jordan Foster Construction includes a six-lane divided arterial. This extension will eliminate an existing gap in the City’s transportation network by providing an additional route for north/south traffic.

The project is a part of the City’s Driving Progress program, which aims to invest a minimum of $240 million over five years to improve roadway capacity and connectivity.

The road project will be funded by the Transportation and Economic Development Corporation (Type B) through City sales tax revenues.

Construction is slated to begin in late 2022 and estimated to be completed in spring 2024.
