County to host open house meeting on RM 620 improvements

The public is invited to an Open House from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 15, at the Baca Center to learn about proposed improvements to RM 620 from Cornerwood Drive to Deep Wood Drive, a distance of approximately 2.74 miles. Williamson County, in conjunction with the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT), will conduct the Open House to gather public input and comments for the project.

The proposed improvements would include the re-striping of existing RM 620 pavement from four lanes to six lanes between Cornerwood Drive and Wyoming Springs Drive and the widening of RM 620 from four lanes to six lanes between Wyoming Springs Drive and Deep Wood Drive. Upon completion, the project will have a roadway section generally containing two 12-foot lanes and one 14-foot lane in each direction; curb and gutter; and a raised center median. Left and right-turn lanes, culverts, water-quality facilities, retaining walls and the construction of sidewalks along the north side of RM 620 are also proposed. Construction is anticipated to begin in the summer of 2016.

The Open House will be informal, and attendees are encouraged to come and go as they please; there will be no formal presentation. Project maps, exhibits and handouts will be available for review and comment. Representatives from Williamson County and their consultant will be present to answer questions about the project.

The purpose of the proposed improvements is to enhance safety within the project area and improve mobility along the corridor. No new right-of-way acquisition is currently proposed, but temporary construction easements will be required. There would be no displacements by the improvements.

Preliminary maps and exhibits of the project will be on display at the Open House, and are currently available for review at the Williamson County Road and Bridge Office, 3151 S.E. Inner Loop, Georgetown, and at the TxDOT Georgetown Area Engineer’s Office, 2727 S. Austin Avenue, Georgetown.

Exhibits are also available for viewing on the Williamson County website at http://620.roadbond.org.

The Open House will be conducted in English. Persons interested in attending the Open House who require auxiliary aids or services, such as interpreters, are requested to contact Connie Watson, Williamson County, Public Information Officer, telephone 512-943-1663, fax 512-943-1662, or email cwatson@wilco.org at least five business days prior to the Open House so that appropriate arrangements may be made. Williamson County and TxDOT will make every reasonable effort to accommodate communication or accessibility needs.

All interested citizens are encouraged to attend the Open House and provide input on the project. Verbal and written comments may be presented at the Open House. Written comments not submitted during the Open House may be submitted to Williamson County’s consultant: Halff Associates, Inc., ATTN: Tricia Mosier, 4030 W. Braker Lane, Suite 450, Austin, Texas 78759. All comments received on or before Monday, Oct. 25, 2015 will be included in the official record of the Open House.
