The Round Rock Fire Department is actively responding to a 5-inch gas line break near County Road 172 and Lynda Sue Street on the west side of Round Rock. Crews were dispatched at 9:36 a.m., and multiple fire department units are on the scene conducting air monitoring in buildings around the leak. There have been no evacuations as a result of the leak.
Residents should not be alarmed if they smell natural gas outdoors, as the odor is expected to spread beyond the immediate area due to this morning’s wind direction and cool temperatures. However, as a precaution, if you are in the area and detect a strong gas odor inside your home or business, leave the area and call 9-1-1 or ATMOS’s toll-free emergency number at 866-322-8667.
