Experience the Round Rock Junior Police Academy

The Junior Police Academy (JPA) is a program dedicated to promoting community responsibility among young citizens and public servants. Each summer, the Round Rock Police Department offers free, week-long camps aimed at building a stronger connection between law enforcement and local youth, giving them a hands-on opportunity to experience the daily life of a police officer.

Modeled after a law enforcement academy, the camp provides participants with physical training, including an obstacle course, marching, and rappelling. Students will have the opportunity to tour patrol and SWAT vehicles, K-9 units, and a police helicopter. The camp’s comprehensive curriculum covers key topics such as traffic safety, criminal investigations, alcohol and drug prevention, and self-defense. Additionally, campers will engage in local field trips to further their understanding of law enforcement practices and community safety.

The 2025 Junior Police Academy will host five Monday through Thursday (8 a.m. – 5 p.m.) sessions:

  • Session 1: June 9-12 (10 and 11-year-olds)
  • Session 2: June 23-26 (12 to 14-year-olds)
  • Session 3: July 7-10 (8 and 9-year-olds)
  • Session 4: July 21-24 (8 and 9-year-olds)
