Local Author Meet and Greet on June 21

Celebrate local authors at the Round Rock Public Library’s Local Author Meet and Greet, Saturday, June 21st, on the first and second floors from 11am-1pm. Come and meet local authors Julie Afsahi, Jessica Cross, Douglas Burton, Michael Do, Kevin Kelton, Dani Lawrence, Tia LuLu, The Rhyme Time Teller, and Maureen St. Louis. They will have copies of their books for sale with 10% of the sales going to help support The Friends of the Round Rock Library.

Children’s Authors will have the opportunity to read an excerpt from one of their books at the end of Family Storytime, which takes place from 11 to 11:30 a.m., in the Second Floor Program Space. 

Author Spotlight

Julie Afsahi and Jessica Cross

Julie Afsahi and Jessica Cross are leading sound healing educators, yoga teachers, and meditation guides in Central Texas. Together, they have led hundreds of sound baths and created Seasons of Sound, a comprehensive resource for sound practitioners. Drawing from years of teaching and deep study, they specialize in accessible, transformative wellness experiences rooted in yogic and Buddhist traditions. Julie and Jessica are known for fostering community and ease through their sound trainings, retreats, and many wellness classes.

Douglas A. Burton

Douglas A. Burton is a novelist known for highlighting heroic women, most notably in his multi award-winning debut novel, ‘Far Away Bird.’ His short story “The Vaccine” won a 2024 NextGen award, and his latest book, ‘The Heroine’s Labyrinth,’ introduces a new storytelling structure focused on heroine-led narratives. This book earned the 2024 BIBA Award and the 2025 Independent Press gold medal. Burton lives in Round Rock, Texas, with his wife and two sons.

Michael Do

Michael Do was a soldier of the Vietnamese Armed Forces. After the fall of South Vietnam, he was detained in Communist concentration camps for 10 years and was admitted to the United States as a Political refugee in 1990. He has written and published 20 books in Vietnamese and three in English. He was featured multiple times on major TV channels and Newspapers: PBS (KLRU and WCVE), VOA, FOX7, News8Austin, Texas News Watch, Austin American Statesman. Do had papers presented at the conferences and symposia hosted by the Vietnam Center and Archive – Texas Tech University) in 2001, 2002, 2008, 2017, 2019, 2024, and 2025. In 2021, he was recognized and honored by the Congress of Texas.

Kevin Kelton

Kevin Kelton is an Emmy nominated television writer of Saturday Night Live, Night Court, Boy Meets World, and A Different World. He has written three novels and a how-to book on television writing.

Dani Lawrence

Dani Lawrence is an award-winning children’s book author known for stories that spark imagination and teach heartfelt lessons. Inspired by real-life adventures of her grandchildren, she brings warmth and wonder to every page. Her books continue to delight young readers and families around the globe.

Tia Lulu

Tia Lulu was born and raised in the Rio Grande Valley just north of the Mexican border. Her books aim to inspire creativity, curiosity and courage. As author and illustrator of “Juanito the Mosquito”, Tia Lulu crafts a heartwarming tale filled with rhythm, Spanglish, and taquitos. Grab your dark shades and a cool-looking hat and join Juanito in a taco-filled adventure that celebrates culture and family.

The Rhyme Time Teller

The Rhyme Time Teller is my Name, and Rhyming is my Game.

I am both the author and narrator of my own Children’s Book, And you’ll see some characters you know inside it if you look. I use figures from fairy tales, nursery rhymes, and other categories, Because I believe that, “Children Deserve the Greatest of Stories.”

Maureen St. Louis

Maureen St. Louis is a wife, mother of 3, and an early childhood educator. She loves creating books that are fun for the whole family.
