The City of Round Rock and the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) are seeking public input on proposed changes to improve safety and accessibility on RM 620 between Deepwood Drive and IH 35.

There was an Open House meeting Jan. 23 where displays of the project area and other project information were available for review.

Displays shown at the Open House and other information concerning the project are available for review at City of Round Rock transportation offices at 2008 Enterprise Drive and at the TxDOT Georgetown Area Office at 2727 S. Austin Ave., Georgetown.

The proposed project would entail two primary elements. The first element would be a bridge to carry RM 620 traffic over the Union Pacific Railroad and Chisholm Trail Road. In order to maintain access to businesses and residences in the vicinity of the proposed bridge, at-grade local access roads would be constructed between Lake Creek Drive and Chisholm Trail Road.

The second element would be a bridge at Lake Creek Drive. This proposed bridge would carry RM 620 traffic over Lake Creek Drive; thus, eliminating the existing at-grade intersection. The purpose of the proposed project is to improve safety and enhance mobility in the project area.

The project area is within the Edwards Aquifer Recharge Zone. The proposed project would not cross a floodplain nor encroach upon a wetland. Approximately five acres of additional right-of-way and one acre of temporary construction easement would be necessary to accommodate the proposed project. Acquisition of the right-of-way would result in commercial and residential displacements.
