No one injured in apartment fire

At 12:44 p.m. Saturday, April 4, the Round Rock Fire Department responded to a fire at the Red Hills Villas Apartments, 1401 South A.W. Grimes Blvd. The first Fire Department unit arrived in four and a half minutes and found a couch on a second floor balcony fully involved.

The building was being evacuated prior to the Fire Department arrival because the occupant of the apartment unit where the fire occurred notified his neighbors of the fire.

Damage to the building was confined to the exterior of the building and a storage room that contained a water heater. The estimated damage to the building is about $30,000.

The fire was contained in approximately 8 minutes and totally extinguished within 15 minutes. Eighteen personnel responded to the fire. The last Fire Department units cleared the scene at 2:28 p.m.

The cause of the fire is believed to be improperly discarded smoking material.
