UPDATE, January 10, 2025:
The Round Rock Police Department has identified the subject who died in the officer-involved shooting on January 7, 2025, as Adam MacLean, 50, of Round Rock.
The incident occurred at approximately 9:40 p.m. when a 9-1-1 caller reported an erratic driver, which led to a single-vehicle collision on Westinghouse Road near Texas Crushed Stone. After fleeing the scene into a wooded area, MacLean was later located using drones. He then began shooting at both the drone and officers. SWAT officers responded to the scene and engaged MacLean, who was shot by one of the officers during the encounter. MacLean also sustained a self-inflicted gunshot wound and was pronounced deceased at the scene.
No officers were injured during the incident. In accordance with department policy, SWAT Officer Nathan Sosa, who has been with the Round Rock Police Department since 2020, has been placed on administrative leave while the investigation continues. Additionally, the Texas Rangers, with assistance from the Round Rock Police Department, are investigating the incident.

The Round Rock Police Department is investigating an officer-involved shooting that occurred on Westinghouse Road near Texas Crushed Stone on Tuesday, Jan. 7, 2025.
At approximately 9:40 p.m., officers responded to a 9-1-1 call reporting a vehicle driving erratically, which resulted in a single-vehicle collision. As officers arrived, the subject exited the vehicle and fled into a wooded area. Officers deployed a drone to assist in locating the individual, who displayed a firearm and began shooting at both the drone and officers. In response, Round Rock SWAT officers were dispatched to the scene. As SWAT officers attempted to approach the subject, one officer discharged their weapon.
The subject was declared deceased at the scene and a preliminary investigation indicates the subject may have died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. The Travis County Medical Examiner will conduct an autopsy, and the results are pending.
No officers were injured during the incident. In accordance with department policy, the officer involved has been placed on administrative leave pending further investigation. The Texas Department of Public Safety Texas Rangers are assisting in the investigation, and additional information will be released as it becomes available.
