City celebrates Grand Re-Opening for newly expanded Play for All Park

The Play for All Foundation, Mayor Craig Morgan, Round Rock City Council Members, park donors and the Round Rock Parks and Recreation Department hosted a Grand Re-Opening community-wide celebration at 9:30 a.m Friday, Nov. 17, at the Play for All Park, 151 North A.W. Grimes Blvd. The event included a re-dedication ceremony.

The park has truly become a treasure and from opening day, hundreds of thousands have visited the park from Central Texas and across the nation. Throughout the year, children are bused in from surrounding communities to enjoy this one of a kind park. The park has also been honored with numerous local, regional and national awards.

The Play for All Park has undergone a $2.25 million expansion and is a public-private partnership success story. Local businesses, service clubs and citizens partnered with the non-profit Play for All Foundation and the City of Round Rock to raise nearly $600,000 in cash and approximately $400,000 of in-kind donations to make the park expansion a reality.

The Play for All Park has more than doubled in size and now features three additional themed play spaces and four current play spaces have been greatly expanded. The park now features the all new Nyle Maxwell Family of Dealerships Speedway, a new Nolan Ryan Foundation Train Pod, an all-new Adventure Hill, an all-new Nature Pod featuring the Ascension/Dell Children’s all abilities Tree House, a zip line and Mason’s Monkey Ranch Nature free play area.

The Village Pod Section of the park was also expanded and features a Baker Realty Building, a new drive-thru Chick-Fil-A restaurant, a car wash with misters called Missy’s Car Wash and a new Hester’s Automotive Bike Parking Area. Additionally, the Swing Pod section of the park has been expanded and now includes additional all ability swings.  Finally, the Rock Band Pod sponsored by Smiles for Sammy has expanded and a new restroom facility, additional parking for cars and busses and a new Picnic Grove has also been added.

Play for All Foundation is comprised of community leaders who have been the driving force in raising the needed funds for the original park and the park expansion.
