On Monday, Nov. 13, Capital Metro will launch MetroExpress Route 980 providing Round Rock riders with morning and afternoon access to an express bus route into downtown Austin. The new route will travel from the Round Rock Transit Center to the New Life Park & Ride and then continue onto its Austin service, traveling on the MoPac managed lanes.
Service will operate weekdays to and from Round Rock, with two morning trips departing at 5:44 and 6:46 a.m. and two evening trips arriving at 5:07 and 6:12 p.m. Travel time is estimated to be approximately 45 minutes.
“Route 980 is an exciting addition to Round Rock’s new transit service,” said Caren Lee, City of Round Rock Transit Coordinator. “The route will give workers in downtown Austin and students at the University of Texas and other area colleges an alternate way to make their commutes.”
The express route to and from Round Rock will join three already operational routes as part of the City’s newly launched transit service, which began in late August and has seen an average of approximately 200 riders per day.
