Phone scam falsely claims to be from Round Rock Police

Round Rock Police have been made aware of a telephone scam wherein the caller advised there were outstanding warrants out of Round Rock the victim needed to pay or they would be arrested.

Reports say the caller sounds like they are from India and advises the resident that they are with the Round Rock Police Department or the Round Rock Sheriff’s Office. The caller requests payment or a warrant will be issued for the resident’s address.

The Round Rock Police Department will never request payment over the phone or issue a warrant for arrest if payment is not made. Residents should never give their credit card information over the phone to anyone.

This scam is similar to a phone scam reported in Round Rock in August 2012. If you receive one of these calls, please notify the Round Rock Police Department or your local police agency.
