Police hiring Cadets & Lateral Officers

Cadet applications are due March 10. Cadets are paid $27.44 an hour during the Academy. Upon graduation, Officer pay starts out at $67,286 annually.

Cadet applicants must be at least 20 years and 6 months of age by the date of the entrance examination, which is scheduled for March 23. Applicants must have 30 college credit hours OR 2 years prior military service OR 2 years of full-time basic jailer experience OR 2 years of full-time employment as a non-sworn member of the Round Rock Police Department.

Applications for Lateral Officer are due Feb. 19, after which a new hiring window will open. The plan is to hire Lateral Officers year-round. Lateral Officers start out between $67-81,000 per year, depending on their experience.
