Police apprehend suspect in Dec. 15 night car wreck

Dec. 20 Update: The Round Rock Police have apprehended a suspect believed to be involved in a Sunday, Dec. 15, car wreck involving gunfire.

At approximately 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 19, officers arrested Xavier Gutierrez on a previous Travis County warrant for credit card abuse. The suspect has since been charged with Aggravated Assault for randomly shooting at the victim around 11 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 15, in the 1300-block of N. AW Grimes Boulevard.

Without provocation, Gutierrez allegedly fired from a vehicle into the vehicle of the victim where the victim sustained a gunshot wound to the head.  This resulted in the victim’s pickup truck rolling over and crashing into an electrical pole. The victim is in stable condition. Gutierrez has previous arrest history.

Original Post: The Round Rock Police Department is seeking information in reference to a collision that took place on Sunday, Dec. 15 around 11 p.m. in the 1300-block of N. A.W. Grimes Boulevard where a vehicle struck an electrical pole. During the incident, one driver sustained a gunshot injury that may be subsequent to a road rage incident.
