Executing annual planning isn’t just a responsibility of leadership – it’s an opportunity. Join entrepreneur Schuyler Williamson, author of The Steady Leader, for an actionable 90-minute workshop to give you some structure and direction for your 2026 pursuits. You will be pushed to consider what truly matters in your life and business – beyond just the dollar signs.

In this workshop, you will put pen to paper to map the true goals of your five-year vision for your best life, an actionable one-page business plan for the year ahead, and a roadmap to achieve your “big rocks” for the first quarter of 2026. End your year with some momentum and excitement for the future.

About the Presenter: Schuyler Williamson’s leadership presentation draws on his military training and experiences as a leader when deployed in Iraq, as well as his building and operating several successful businesses. His audiences remain very engaged as they learn from those experiences as well as his extensive reading and application of business literature. His strength of character and focus on serving others offer an example for those looking to succeed in business and life.

The federal government offers powerful resources to help small businesses start, grow, and succeed. In this session, learn how the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) and its partner agencies support entrepreneurs through funding programs, counseling and mentoring, government contracting opportunities, disaster assistance, and training tools.

Join the SBA District Director to learn what resources are available for aspiring and existing business owners, how to access them, and how the SBA can support your business at every stage.

About the Presenter: David L. Elizondo is the District Director for the U.S. Small Business Administration’s San Antonio District Office. He rejoined the SBA in June 2024 after previously serving as San Antonio Deputy District Director from August 2019 to April 2023. Earlier in his SBA career, he served as Branch Manager for the SBA Corpus Christi Branch Office.Mr. Elizondo holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in Computer Information Systems and a Master of Business Administration from The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley.

Biz.ability: Starting a Business and Asset Protection

The Round Rock Public Library and SCORE Austin present Biz.ability: Starting a Business and Asset Protection on Friday, March 6, from 12:30 to 2:00 p.m. in Meeting Room A&B.

Running a business has risks associated with it. There are simple steps business owners can take to protect their personal and business assets against those risks. This workshop will look at ways to protect assets through business formation decisions, trade secret protection, and appropriate legal documents. It is always better to make some protective decisions early on than to put out fires later.

About the Presenter: Jennifer Ward is Principal Attorney at Law Office of Jennifer D. Ward in Austin, Texas. She is licensed to practice in the State of Texas, the State of California, the Western District of Texas, the Southern District of Texas, the Eastern District of California, and the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals. Her practice focuses on employment law and general counsel services for small businesses and non-profits. She is involved in many legal and community organizations.

Have a great business idea but the thought of trying to write a long business plan is intimidating? Not sure what makes a business plan “good” or even memorable? Join SCORE Mentor Shannon Black and create a one-page business plan in real time. A business plan will help explain to others what you want to do and how you’re going to make it happen. We’ll go over how to create a powerful mission statement and what lenders and investors look for in a business plan! You’ll leave with a business plan and inspiration.

About the Presenter: Shannon Black is an entrepreneur and former math teacher who started a Montessori preschool business when she couldn’t find a good one for her 1 year old son. She expanded her initial four-classroom school into two locations with over 50 employees and has broken ground on her third location in Jarrell. Shannon also donates her time as a Mentor, speaker, and Co-Chair for SCORE Austin, promoting their free business mentoring and workshops.
