Round Rock City crews flushing water lines on west side of town

City of Round Rock crews continued to flush water lines in areas west of IH-35 throughout Tuesday following reports of discolored water.

The City received several complaints about brown water from residents in this area late Monday. Crews flushed lines overnight to remove any sediment in the system.

Areas flushed Monday night included:

  • Creek Bend/Plantation
  • Creek Bend/Bent Tree
  • Hermitage/Sam Bass
  • Sylvia Lane/Sam Bass
  • Hunters Trail/Sam Bass

Although a contractor hit a water line along Chisholm Trail Road on Monday afternoon, City crews further inspected construction activities in the area on Tuesday and found that a contributing factor was also recent work related to one of the City’s main transmission lines that flushed naturally occurring debris and sediment through the line. The City’s Utilities Department began directional flushing on Tuesday to clear the transmission line while minimizing the impact to nearby residents. Some customers west of IH-35 and north of RM 620 may continue to see momentary cloudiness in their water as flushing is completed.

Pressure and chlorine residuals have been maintained in the system throughout the entire process. If customers are unable to achieve a clear appearance by running their faucets (preferably outdoor faucets) for several minutes, they are encouraged to call 512-218-5555.
