Round Rock police arrest suspect in domestic disturbance involving firearm

A suspect has been arrested following a domestic disturbance early Monday morning.

At approximately 4 a.m. on Feb. 17, Round Rock police officers responded to a domestic disturbance at the MAA apartment complex, located at 1800 Plateau Vista Blvd. A 9-1-1 caller reported hearing an argument between a male and female in a nearby apartment and believed a firearm was involved after hearing the female pleading in fear for her life.

Upon arrival, officers made contact with the suspect, who brandished a firearm. One officer then discharged his weapon. No one was injured during the incident.

The suspect, identified as 34-year-old Alexander Tolentino of Round Rock, was taken into custody and transported to the Williamson County Jail. He faces charges of assault family violence.

In accordance with department policy, Officer Mason Gates, a one-year veteran of the Round Rock Police Department, has been placed on administrative leave.
