Round Rock Police introduce new bomb detection dog

The Round Rock Police Department is proud to introduce K-9 Reka and her handler, Officer Sheldon Jackson, as the newest members of our K-9 Unit. K-9 Reka, a two-year-old Dutch Shepherd from Poland, will undergo specialized training in explosives detection.

Officer Jackson, who has served with the Round Rock Police Department for over five years, has aspired to become a K-9 handler since the beginning of his law enforcement career. Together, Officer Jackson and K-9 Reka will strengthen the department’s ability to address critical threats and enhance public safety.

“We’re excited to welcome K-9 Reka to our team,” said Police Chief Allen Banks. “Her training and skills will be invaluable to both our department and our community.”

K-9 Reka’s addition was made possible through a generous donation from a local family to the Round Rock Police Foundation. She will take over for K-9 Lucy, who will retire in the coming months after more than eight years of dedicated service.
