Round Rock Police Officers Association accepting donations in support of injured officer, Charles Whites

On Feb. 25, Round Rock Police Officer Charles Whites was struck by a vehicle on Interstate 35 while directing traffic around the scene of an auto-pedestrian fatality. Officer Whites, an 18-year veteran of the Round Rock Police Department, remains in serious condition.

Officer Whites suffered a head injury and remains mostly unresponsive with additional internal injuries and several bone fractures. While family, friends and coworkers are optimistic for a full recovery, it will be a slow process involving initial rehabilitation in Austin, with plans to move this work to Houston as he continues to improve. Members of his family will temporarily relocate to south Austin and then to the Houston area to support him as he recovers.

While Officer Whites’ medical care is being paid through applicable coverage and he is receiving a full salary via workers’ compensation and a City supplement, there are many unforeseen expenses that will be incurred by his entire family. With this in mind, the Round Rock Police Officers Association have created different ways to help. The simplest way to donate is via this webpage: https://roundrockrelief.firstresponderprocessing.com/

You can purchase t-shirts and decals with Officer Whites’ call sign – A153. There will be a barbecue fundraiser to coincide with the Round Rock Car Show on April 15 at the BACA Center.
