Round Rock ranked top performing city in America

Round Rock is again at the top of the heap as the Round Rock-Austin metropolitan area was recently listed as the best performing city in the nation, according to a recent study.

The 2024 Milken Institute‘s Best-Performing Cities (BPC) Index ranked the area No. 1 in the nation, highlighting the region’s diverse economy and strategic investments in technology, healthcare, and education. The index measures economic vitality in 200 large metropolitan areas and 203 small metropolitan areas by assessing performance of the labor market, tech sector and access to economic opportunities. This year, emphasis was specifically placed on jobs, wages, high-tech growth, housing affordability and broadband coverage, in addition to newly incorporated metrics of community resilience and income inequality.

According to the Milken Institute, “This year’s top-performing cities had several common themes: a vigorous and growing high-tech sector, rebounding leisure and hospitality sectors and community resilience.”

Round Rock-Austin is one of only two Texas cities to be included in the Top 10 of large U.S. cities:

      1. Round Rock–Austin, TX
      2. Raleigh, NC
      3. Boise City, ID
      4. Salt Lake City, UT
      5. Provo–Orem, UT
      6. Nashville–Davidson–Murfreesboro–Franklin, TN
      7. Fayetteville–Springdale–Rogers, AR–MO
