Round Rock Sports Center featured on “World’s Greatest!…” television series

Facility's quality, special features noted by producers

The Round Rock Sports Center will be featured on the television series “World’s Greatest!…”, a show dedicated to highlighting the world’s greatest places, products, people and companies.

With over 83,000 square feet of mixed-use space and the ability to seat more than 1,400 spectators, the Sports Center was an easy choice as one of the world’s greatest sports facilities. This state-of-the-art structure hosts over 50 tournaments a year, bringing visitors from near and far into Round Rock, and is also home to local sports team user groups.

“We think their story will be meaningful as well as very educational to our viewers,” said Gordon Freeman, executive producer of “World’s Greatest!…”

As a part of the filming process, “World’s Greatest!…” crews spoke with Mayor Craig Morgan about what makes the Sports Center unique and an integral part of the family of sports venues in Round Rock, known as the Sports Capital of Texas. Chad McKenzie, Director of the City Sports Management and Tourism Department, was also interviewed and explained some of the special features at the Sports Center, and why user groups continue to return year after year to the venue for their events and training.

In addition to a 52,000 square foot maple wood court surface that can be morphed into a variety of configurations with motorized nets and lines for multiple sports, the Sports Center also houses 38 high definition screens used for scoreboards, messaging and more, plus in-house concessions and a dining area. The Sports Center features a covered turf field adjacent to the main structure that is used for outdoor sports and training programs. The 15,000 square foot area includes a concessions stand, patio seating and a modern play scape for children.

The Sports Center feature will air Jan. 8 and Jan. 22 on Spectrum Channel 72, DirecTV Channel 305, Dish Network Channel 250. Check your local listings for other channels featuring “World’s Greatest!…”, produced by How2Media, a 21st Century television production company.
