Suspect captured in Colorado for attempted sexual assault of female runner

On Friday, Feb. 13, Round Rock Police, FBI Central Texas Violent Crimes Task Force, and the Fort Collins FBI Resident Agency, conducted an investigation that led to the arrest of Clay Ahuero (DOB 11/24/1993) for the attempted sexual assault of a female runner that occurred near the 300 block of Terra Street on July 8, 2014. The woman was walking home from a jog at Caldwell Heights Elementary when she was grabbed from behind by Ahuero, pushed to the ground, and he attempted to assault her, but was unsuccessful.

During the investigation, detectives obtained a matching DNA sample using the Combined DNA Index System (CODIS). Ahuero was arrested in Weld County, Colorado, and is awaiting extradition to Texas.

This incident remains under investigation.
