The mission statement of the Round Rock Fire Department is simple: “We Care.” Those two words encompass the foundational desire of our public safety personnel who put their lives on the line to provide the highest level of emergency service to our community possible.
Brandlyn Cours is a proud member of that team. As a firefighter, and the first woman to achieve the rank of Driver, she embodies what it takes to excel in a role where a commitment to excellence and the strength to push beyond limits are not just expected, but required.
While Brandlyn always thought being a firefighter would be a rewarding career, she recalls doubting her own abilities during an early conversation with a friend who was already an active firefighter.
“I told him I’m too small, I can’t do it,” she said.
The friend continued to push Brandlyn to consider firefighting as an option, and after taking one class, she fell in love with the profession.
