Round Rock man dies following house fire

UPDATE [Posted 12/23]: The cause of a fatal house fire that occurred Nov. 25 in the 300 block of South Kenney Fort Boulevard remains undetermined. The victim, identified as 85-year-old Thomas Elrod, died Monday, Dec. 9 as a result of his injuries.

ORIGINAL [Posted 11/25]: A house fire in Round Rock sent one man to the hospital with life-threatening injuries Monday evening.

Round Rock Fire Department responded to a fire at approximately 5:07 p.m. at a residence located in the 300 block of South Kenney Fort Boulevard. An 85-year-old man who was in the structure when crews arrived was transported to the hospital with life-threatening injuries; no other individuals were in the home. Six total units responded to extinguish the blaze.

Four dogs on scene were secured, and a cat was found deceased on scene. Three horses on the property appeared to be uninjured. The investigation into the cause of the fire is ongoing.
