Chisholm Trail South Improvements

The City of Round Rock is planning for upgrades to Chisholm Trail Road between Sam Bass Road and RM 620. This project will include pavement reconstruction, sidewalk upgrades, and improvements to utility and drainage infrastructure.

Construction for the Chisholm Trail South Improvements project is anticipated to begin in July 2025 and last through summer 2026. During construction, detours will be put in place.

Details of Detour during Construction

Project Update: October 2025

Southbound traffic between Sam Bass Road and Emmanuel Street will be detoured Oct. 8-Nov. 1. On-street parking will not be available during this time.

Construction will pause from November through December 2025 for the holidays and will resume in early 2026.

Project is scheduled for completion Summer 2026.

Project Update: August 2025

Contractor is progressing on schedule – 10% complete.

Contractor is beginning utility work in the southbound lanes.  Only Northbound traffic is allowed in the Northbound lanes.  Southbound traffic is detoured.
