The City of Round Rock will host a ribbon cutting at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 19, 2026, for the new Republic Services Sustainability Pod at Play for All Park, 151 N. A.W. Grimes Blvd. Residents are encouraged to come join in the celebration.
Mayor Morgan, members of the Round Rock City Council, and representatives from Republic Services and the Play for All Foundation are expected to attend. The event will celebrate the opening of a new all-inclusive play area designed to help children learn about recycling, renewable energy and sustainability through play.
The new pod will include educational play features, including a recycling truck slide with sorting lanes designed to teach children about recycling, renewable energy and sustainability. The project also includes a wheelchair-accessible merry-go-round with educational graphics.
The project was supported by a $250,000 National Neighborhood Promise grant from the Republic Services Charitable Foundation to the Play for All Foundation. The City partnered with Republic Services and the foundation to bring the project to Play for All Park and expand play opportunities for children of all abilities.
The project reflects the City of Round Rock’s continued investment in public spaces built to serve children and families of all abilities. Since opening in 2012, Play for All Park has grown through a combination of city support, community fundraising and public-private partnership to expand access to inclusive play.
