Round Rock was lauded as one of the best cities in the United States to live in, particularly earning high marks for its family appeal and good schools, in Niche’s 2026 Best Places to Live rankings.
Niche compiled a variety of best-of lists, specifically dividing them up by topics such as diversity, retirement, education and health, and by places, such as cities, counties and neighborhoods. Niche analyzed more than 230 cities and 18,000 places using a mix of public data and millions of resident reviews. Data drew from sources like U.S. Census Bureau, Bureau of Labor Statistics and CDC.
Round Rock landed in the top 30 of the following lists:
- Best Cities to Raise a Family in America (no. 21 overall out of 229 cities)
- Cities with the Best Public Schools in America (no. 22 out of 229 cities)
- Best Cities to Live in America (no. 24 out of 229 cities)
Niche defines “cities” as municipal areas with populations of 100,000 or more. Ranking methodology considered factors such as crime rates, school performance, housing trends, employment statistics, access to community amenities and walkability.
“People are increasingly looking for neighborhoods that offer both access to diverse career opportunities and a strong sense of community,” said Niche economist Allison Shrivastava.
Niche also provided communities with overall and categorical grades. Round Rock scored an A grade overall and in Niche’s Diversity, Good for Families and Public Schools categories, as well as A- grades in Jobs and Nightlife.

Round Rock also landed at ninth on Livability’s Top 100 Best Places to Live in the U.S. list this year.
