Chisholm Trail South construction set to begin July 1

Construction on the Chisholm Trail South project, from Sam Bass Road to RM 620, is scheduled to begin Tuesday, July 1.

The project includes pavement reconstruction, upgraded sidewalks, and utility and drainage infrastructure improvements. Future improvements to be completed toward the end of construction also include improved pedestrian access along the Chisholm Trail Road low water crossing, which is located beside the city’s namesake round rock.

During the initial construction phase, southbound traffic on Chisholm Trail Road between Poker Alley and Emmanuel Street will be detoured, and on-street parking will be closed. A detour map is provided below.

Public input was gathered through two open houses held in 2023 and 2024. Summaries of those meetings, including exhibits and public comments, are available on the project webpage at www.roundrocktexas.gov/transportprojects/chisholm-trail-south-improvements.

Construction is anticipated to be complete in summer 2026. The construction timeline also calls for the project to demobilize temporarily starting in the fall to allow access to nearby businesses during the winter holiday season.
