City Council approves construction contract for Fire Station 1 - City of Round Rock

City Council approves construction contract for Fire Station 1

Round Rock City Council voted unanimously to approve a contract to construct a new Fire Station at the Thursday, Feb. 23 meeting.

The new Fire Station 1 will be located at 1730 E. Old Settlers Blvd. and house one battalion chief and a fire crew comprised of three to four firefighters. The new location will move these personnel from the Central Fire Station located at 203 Commerce Blvd., which will continue to house administration functions for the Round Rock Fire Department, including the Chief’s Office and Fire Marshal’s Office. The new location is expected to better distribute response times across the City, with improved response times to the growing eastern portion of the community.

Council previously approved a contract for architectural services with McKinney York Architects and another for engineering services contract with 2P Consultants in May 2022. These services were funded through the City’s General Self Finance Construction fund.

Construction on the project is slated to be completed in early 2024.

The funding for construction of Fire Station 1 is proposed as part of the City’s 2023 bond proposition for public safety. To learn more about the bond propositions, visit roundrocktexas.gov/bond.
