Two City Councilmembers were sworn in for new terms at the Thursday, May 26 Council meeting.
Place 2 Councilmember Rene Flores and Place 6 Councilmember Hilda Montgomery took the oath of office after being re-elected in May. Flores was re-elected with 60.86% percent of the vote over challenger Caitlin Leggett, and Montgomery ran unopposed.
Both were sworn in by Round Rock Municipal Court Judge Alan McGraw.
Both council members thanked their family members, fellow council members, City staff and citizens of Round Rock.
“I’m very appreciative and I’m always humbled by the nature of the campaign; people are willing to help you and do things for you and offer you support,” Flores said. “This community is unique and it doesn’t happen everywhere.”
“I want to thank the citizens of Round Rock for voting in the election,” Montgomery said. “It’s important and imperative that we take our responsibility seriously and share in their responsibility of who runs our city.”
