Parks and Rec to host THE YARD Grand Opening Celebration on Feb. 22

The City of Round Rock Parks and Recreation Department to host a Grand Opening Celebration for the City’s new covered outdoor fitness center titled THE YARD.

THE YARD is a brand-new major addition to the Clay Madsen Recreation Center and features state of the art fitness equipment and amenities. At 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 22, City leaders, center members and Round Rock residents will officially open the THE YARD for public use with a Grand Opening Celebration that will feature hands on fitness demonstrations, swag items and more. The entire community is invited to the celebration.

THE YARD features just under 2,200 square feet of artificial grass turf and 650 square feet inside the workout containers.  THE YARD features premium workout equipment including 10’ and 30’ MoveStrong Nova Walls, stall bars, rope ladder, 5 FightStrong heavy bags, 2 Squat Stands, artificial turf with 5 yard markers (25 yards total), running resistance training accessories, rowing machines, assault self-powered treadmill, assault bike, adjustable benches, Bulgarian bags, assorted free weights, TRX suspension training, plyo boxes, tire flip, variety of attachments for bridge (cobra ropes, hanging globes, rings, dip attachment), battle ropes, heart rate training, multiple TV screens with workout demos and more.

THE YARD was made possible through Bond Funds Round Rock residents approved in 2013 and General Self-Finance funds.

“This brand-new unique addition will offer residents even more options to recreate and stay fit at an affordable price for all families,” said Rick Atkins, Director of Round Rock Parks and Recreation. “Our team is excited to offer this new recreation addition and we look forward to families enjoying THE YARD for years to come.”

Clay Madsen Recreation Center members have access to this amazing new addition at no additional charge. The Clay Madsen Recreation Center currently features 2 full size gymnasiums, a six lane 25-yard lap indoor pool, four racquetball courts, a cardio/weight room, meeting rooms, kitchen, game room, and babysitting in the Madsen playroom available for members. CMRC also offers a variety of fitness and wellness programs.
