The City of Round Rock Parks & Recreation Department was awarded the Lone Star Class Two Award from the Texas Recreation and Park Society (TRAPS) for their Play for Fall Fundraising Event at the March 2 Institute & Expo Annual Awards Dinner in Waco.

The “Lone Star” award is presented for the best, new, first time recreation programs in five population categories. It was presented to Round Rock in Class Two for cities with populations between 100,001 and 250,000.

The Play for Fall Fundraising event was a Halloween themed event to raise funds for the Play for All Park Expansion. The program committee created and staged a community-wide event to raise funds for the newly expanded Play for All Park, which is a park designed for all children of all ability levels, reducing barriers that may typically exist in a regular playground setting.

The department accepted the award at the Texas Recreation & Park Society’s annual awards ceremony and will hold the honor for the remainder of the year.

The Texas Recreation and Park Society (TRAPS) is a nonprofit 501(c)3 educational and professional organization committed to advancing the field of parks, recreation and leisure services in Texas.
